Background & Exhibit Introduction
Russia invaded Ukraine in the early morning hours of Feb 24, 2022. This marked the beginning of a deadly conflict. Now an estimated 18 million people are in dire need of humanitarian assistance in Ukraine. The featured Ukrainian artists are like their fellow soldiers on the frontline, fighting for the freedom of Ukraine. They hail from different regions and work in a multitude of different mediums. In unison they show their outrage against and openly share their hopes for a quick end to this conflict. They show resilience and patriotism. To have the courage to show and speak out about these topics through artistic expression takes courage. Artists are adept with expressing topics and events in a personal light that the news is not capable of achieving. That is why this exhibit is important and historical. We hope you find this art collection captivating and wish to rally your support. |
